Mar 10th - Mar 11th: Day Thirty Seven

So, instead of forcing everything into one, big long post I decided I'd split it up into separate posts based on the days I did everything! =)

The trip started off early Friday morning. I didn't sleep well the night before so waking up early wasn't the big of an issue (I was kind of already awake). I did my last minute packing, met Jenny at the air port and then we were off! As we were boarding the plane I started to get really excited, and couldn't help but imagine how exciting it's going to be to get on the airport to go home!

Anyway, once we landed, located our hostel and dumped everything off in our room we visited the Sagrada de Familia (easily my favorite building)! I cannot express how beautiful it was, both inside and outside. I couldn't stop taking pictures of it or stop looking at it! I've wanted to see that cathedral for years now (ever since we talked about it in high school Spanish class). I've decided, too, that I'm going to see it once it's finished! I don't care if I'm old and dying, I will see the finished product!

After that we had lunch, dropped our stuff off at the hostel and headed to the park that Jenny really wanted to see. We got lost in the metro on the way there... it's a little different than the metro here. Soon, though, we were headed in the right direction. Little did we know though, that we'd be hiking....

The park was located on one of the large hills around the city and we had to walk up this monstrous hill! Then, we needed to climb steps and such in order to get into the park. I have to admit though, that the view was well worth the hike!

Once we were finished with our hike we took a cab to one of Gaudi's other famous buildings in Barcelona, then walked around and shopped before heading back to the hostel. I was exhausted and my feet were killing me! But I had a fun time!

XOXO,
Carol

Sagrada de Familia

Closer up... So much detail!

Even closer. You might not be able to tell, but the figures are a very large nativity scene! Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph are in the center between the doors and everyone else is around them.

This is the view we got as soon as we walked in. It literally took my breath away!

The alter in the cathedral. They actually hold Mass here!
