Feb 12th - Feb 13th: Day Eleven

Happy Birthday, Luke! I'm going to make you some cool-looking cupcakes for your birthday when I get home! =)

It doesn't matter what country you're in, it's always nice to sleep until 11. And that's just what I did. The only thing I had planned on doing was going to the Prado Museum after 5 (it's free then). So, I laid around and enjoyed a lazy day. I needed it though after playing games with the 'roommates' all night. I had a blast though and decided that I'm adopting the Chinese girls (even though they are 19). They have got to be the two most adorable people I've ever met! I'm glad we all played games too, I feel like we all got a little closer.

When I finally pulled myself out of bed Gio and I headed to the museum. There was so much to see! We quite literally lost our direction and didn't know if we needed to take a left or a right in order to get back to where we needed to be. It was fun though and I can't wait to go back. I'd like to go earlier in the day though when it's not as crowded. Since it was free everyone seemed to be there. I didn't take any pictures either. I was afraid to pull my camera out; I didn't want to get yelled at. I am including two pictures that we saw though and who painted them (they were the two that I remember the most).

Well, that's all for tonight!

XOXO,
Carol

This was painted by Diego Velazquez in 1656. It's one of his more famous paintings and was painted four years before his death. It's one of my favorites for some reason and (I think) it was the only time he ever painted himself.

Believe it or not this painting is even creepier in person. It's painted by Francisco Goya during his 'dark period'. It's the God Saturn eating his child (in mythology the God was afraid of being overthrown, so he ate his own children). The other paintings in this collection were just as creepy!

  1. Can you believe Luke is 12? It seems like yesterday. You have me laughing about your adoption...if you want maybe I can adopt them since you are only 2 yrs older then them. We will need to rename one of them "LUCY". I am glad you had a good time last night. It makes me feel a lot better. The pictures you added to yesterdays blog are cool. I agree with you about the paintings...that 2nd one is creepy...I think it's his eyes...I believe it would be worse in person! I hope you do go back because I am sure you could have spent a lot more time there. I know it's back to school tomorrow, so I am sure there will be a new story for us. Good night for now and I look forward to reading your blog tomorrow....love you and hugs and kisses...Momma
