Feb 18th - Feb 19th: Day Seventeen

Being sick sucks! Being sick in a whole other country is even worse!

I didn't go to the movies today. I woke up at 10:30 feeling like I'd been hit by a train. So instead all I did was eat and sleep. Looking back I don't think going on the day trip yesterday was a good idea. I think, in retrospect, it made my illness worse. I wouldn't have done it any different though. This is a once in a life time thing and I'm not going to let being ill hold me back from doing too much.

Blanca (my Senora) is really concerned about me though. And the language barrier doesn't help. Today I was at the point where I really didn't care what she was talking about. Every time she spoke all I did was nod and say 'Si'. As soon as Gio came back from his day trip she was talking to him about me and made him translate everything. She told me that if I wanted her to she'd drive me to the emergency room, and if I didn't have insurance or anything she'd figure something out for me (such a sweet lady). I told her (well Gio told her) that if I'm not better by Monday I'll call up the doctor that CEA has for us since they speak English.

Blanca was also really worried cause she hasn't seen me take any kind of medicine and assumed I was just sitting in my room dying or something. Haha, I think at this point I've downed half a bottle of cough medicine so she doesn't have to worry about that. She understands though that it's hard being away from home when your sick. I started crying when she showed me so much compassion and she gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek and told me not to cry. I really could not have gotten a better host mom!

Well, it's time to sleep off this cold!
